Shadow Day at Good Samaritan offers first-hand experiences

Shown meeting with the commanding officer of the Third Precinct, Inspector Patrick Cuff, are, left to right, senior Michael Valentino and juniors Anthony Bacchi and Brittany Walsh. Valentino has already been accepted at SUNY Plattsburgh, where he will study criminal justice.
Shadow Day for high schoolers provides the opportunity to spend a day in the field being considered for post-secondary education. Dozens of professionals and businesses volunteered to be "shadowed" by students on March 20, including Good Samaritan Hos- pital, Suffolk County Police, and elected officials. Coordinator of this annual event, in which students can decide if they're headed for the "right" profession, while seeing how the skills they're learning can be transferred into the work place, is lead business teacher Sue Huscilowitc.
Each student "shadowed" a police officer. Shown in the group photo with the students are Inspector Cuff, left, and Sgt. James Scimone, right, are Police Officers John Wright, Frank Rathgeber and William Judge.
