Babylon Schools hold Health and Fitness Expo

Babylon Schools held its first annual Health and Fitness Expo on May 4 with various local businesses participating, numerous health workshops offered, and plenty of exercise classes for all age groups. Coordinated by the physical education department, this free wellness fair was held in two locations, at the Junior-Senior High School and in the Memorial Grade School.

Under the watchful eyes of Physical Education and Health K-12 Director Hans Wiederkehr, students and adults alike participated in cardio kickboxing, yoga, chair yoga for senior citizens, rope climbing; learned from nutrition and food programs; and shopped at tables set up by Incentives Wellness Spa and the Breast Cancer Foundation which was selling jewelry as a fund-raiser. Activities at the Memorial Grade School also included Hula Hoop and Jump Rope competitions. In the hallways were one-mile walking courses and in the computer room were health and fitness games.
