Deer Park student to attend National Leaders Conference

Deer Park High School sophomore John Paul Cotrone was recently accepted to be among the 350 outstanding students who will attend the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC) to be held at the Sheraton Premiere in Washington D.C. from June 30 to July 9.

Cotrone will meet with other young leaders from across the country to sharpen their skills through interaction with current leaders in our nation's capital. As part of the Conference, he will take part in a "Model Congress" and participate in other simulations and activities that provide opportunities to practice his skills.

An outstanding academic and athlete, John Paul participates in many school and extra-curricular activities, including student council, the robotics team, marching band, Varsity Swim team, DECA and is in all honors classes. He was also chosen for the Long Island Math Fair for the second year in a row (last year while in middle school he received the gold medal) and is on the Principal's Honor Roll.
