West Islip Hall of Fame inductees announced

The West Islip Athletic Hall of Fame will hold its fifth Installation Ceremony on Friday, May 18, with the installation taking place at West Islip High School at 6 p.m. and a dinner at Captain Bill's in Bay Shore at 7 p.m.

The Class of 2007 Inductees include 16 athletes from the Classes of 1968 to 1996: Matt Botz, Chris Brodmerkel, Tanya Carbone-Pfaffe, Scott Coppo, James DeVivo, Jim Klimkoski, Colleen Lefferts, Steve Paladino, Jill Pessoni-Roech, Rob Relinger, Mindy Renner-Pfaffe, David Rubano, Jim Ryan, Anthony Scorcia, Jonah Shierant and Rich Williams.

Two coaches, Duane Green and Tony Mellino, will be inducted in honor of their outstanding coaching abilities and contributions to the Swimming & Diving Team and the Wrestling Team, respectively. Also being honored are three people as Honorary Inductees: Tony Coppo, the Touchdown Club President, Edie Mellino, for her overall contributions to the West Islip athletic community, and Ron Riccio, a Booster Club founding father.

Invitations to this event were sent out by West Islip School District Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Health & Recreation, Wayne Smith.
