Lori Stuck-Zegel, owner of Nook and Cranny Gifts in Islip, was the featured speaker at a recent Breakfast for Champions, a program that honors Bay Shore High School students for their commitment to education. Lori, a Bay Shore alumna, shared her experiences as a self described "Bay Shore girl" and successful businesswoman with the students, parents and teachers.

Stuck-Zegel explained that growing up in Bay Shore instilled in her a life long love for community, which was the basis for purchasing her Main Street gift boutique and becoming the current vice president of the Islip Chamber of Commerce. "It's all about extending yourself and giving back to the community. I learned this through the strong civic spirit in Bay Shore," she said.

The monthly breakfast gives students a first hand look at the many positive paths taken by people who have Bay Shore roots. Lori stressed to the gathering that "being part of a great community is something you will carry with you into the future."
