Lindenhurst pre-school scholarships available

Just Kids, located at the Kellum Street School, Lindenhurst, is offering 40 scholarships for regular education children residing within the Lindenhurst School District to attend their half-day Jump Start preschool program beginning in September. Classes will meet twice daily: 8:30-11 a.m. (morning session) and 12- 2:30 p.m. (afternoon session) Parents must provide transportation.

Each class will consist of 18 students: nine regular education and nine special education. One regular education teacher and one special education teacher will co-teach classes, with an aide in each classroom. The program utilizes the Creative Curriculum which emphasizes academic readiness skills and social skills.

Students entering the program in September 2007 must reach the age of three by December 1, 2007. Parents must provide birth certificate, proof of residency, and all students need a physical exam prior to beginning the program. A lottery will be held to select the 40 students to be offered scholarships.

Applications are due by Thursday, May 24.
