American Legion Auxiliary Babylon Unit annual Chinese auction to be held April 28

Babylon American Legion Auxiliary members have been extremely busy over the past few months; volunteering at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stonybrook, volunteering at the Northport VA Medical Center, hosting dances, breakfast with the Easter Bunny and remembering our veterans in local homes during Salute to Veterans Week.

Each Thursday you will find members volunteering in the Post kitchen, serving customers at Bingo. our membership chairman is busy trying to bring in renewals as well as new members to help our unit reach goal. New members are always welcome; if you are the wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter of a veteran you could be eligible for membership. Interested persons please contact Patricia Bianculli at 631-586-1620. Unfortunately sadness was felt in the unit of Babylon 94; condolences to the family of Mary Perras and PP Dorothy Maletta.

Monday evening March 26, members of Babylon 94 interviewed four candidates for this year's Girl State Program. Shannon O'Malley was chosen as this year's representative and Alexandra Weldon was chosen as the alternate. Both girls are juniors at Babylon High School. Shannon will be leaving on June 24 along with 20 other girls from across Suffolk County for a week of intense and fun at SUNY Brockport. She will meet other girls from across NY State to learn of our Government workings. The girls will write and pass bills, run for offices (local positions up to and including governor), campaigning and debating will occur. Instructions on flag etiquette, flag disposal procedure will be given.

The Auxiliary will be holding its annual fundraiser Chinese auction, Friday, April 28.
