Copiague DECA competes in regional competition
This past January, members of the Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School Distributive Education Club of America (D.E.C.A.) competed against students from throughout Suffolk County in the D.E.C.A. Regional Competition. At the competition, 27 Copiague students walked away with first-place awards and the opportunity to move on to the Statewide competition, which is held in Rochester, New York in March.
D.E.C.A. is a national student organization whose program of leadership and personal development is designed specifically for students interested in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. The students competed in such topics as sales demonstration, food marketing, public speaking, visual advertising, and job interviewing skills.
