Lindenhurst Remembers 9/11 Committee to host Pasta Night April 20

Within hours after September 11, 2001, the Village of Lindenhurst held a candlelight vigil in memory of those who perished, without knowing that eight of their own would be among those who had lost their lives that day.

Since that first candlelight vigil, the Village decided to keep the memory of those residents who perished alive by constructing a Memorial Garden. A committee was formed consisting of surviving family members, members of the Village administration, the Lindenhurst Fire Department and members of the community.

After receiving funds from New York State, Suffolk County, the Village of Lindenhurst and from numerous fundraising events, the Memorial Garden is nearing completion. With that in mind the Lindenhurst Remembers Committee will be hosting a family style pasta night to hopefully raise the remaining money needed to complete this project.

"We are looking forward to this event," said Mayor Thomas Brennan. It is an opportunity for the community to help raise the additional funds needed to complete the Memorial Garden that will honor those who lost their lives on 9/11.

The fundraiser will be held Friday, April 20, 6 p.m. at Lindenhurst Firemen's Pavilion. The cost is $12 per adult, $5 for children under 12 and those under four years old are free.

There will be raffles, a Chinese auction with baskets valued at $50 and a 50/50 raffle. Any donations of gift baskets or door prizes will be accepted. Please contact Doug Madlon at 631-957-7500 for more information.
