TOI alcohol awareness month

April has designated as Alcohol Awareness Month, and Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan urges residents who are coping with the detrimental consequences of alcoholism to take advantage of the various services and programs available through the Town's Human Services Department.

Individual and group counseling for all ages is provided by the ACCESS Office, located at Town Hall West, 401 Main St., Islip, or at the ACCESO (Spanish speaking services available) office of Brentwood, at 452 Suffolk Ave. Both locations are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 a.m.

In addition, the Town sponsors a 12-week Community education Series, free of charge, designed to help individuals confront the serious impacts of alcoholism and substance abuse. Classes are offered on Wednesdays at Dowling College in Oakdale, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

For more information, please contact ACCESS at 631-224-5330, or ACCESO at 631-436-6065.
