Deer Park's letter writing brings hope to soldiers

Students in Nancy Binger's E-Commerce education class at Deer Park High School recently visited kindergarteners in Tammy Cotrone's class at May Moore Primary School. The high school students assisted their kindergarten counterparts in writing letters to United States Armed Service people deployed in Iraq through the mysoldier.com program. The goal of the program is to show support of troops serving in hardship areas by establishing penpal relationships.

The kindergarten students in Cotrone's class learned of this program while viewing the Deer Park High School E-Commerce website, which they often visit as part of their computer education. They wrote the E-Commerce students an email asking how they could become involved in the project, precipitating the visit and combined letter-writing effort.
