Babylon HS DECA Club celebrates success New York State Career Conference & Competition

Twenty-seven Babylon High School business and marketing students traveled to Rochester for the annual New York State DECA Career Conference and Competition, March 6 to 9. The State Career Conference is the annual climax of the New York State DECA year; members participate in competitive events and take part in a leadership academy. Recognition is given to outstanding individuals and groups while top award winners qualify to compete in international competition.

Philicia Frasson finished first in New York State, winning the first place trophy in Visual Advertising and Shannon O'Malley and Christina Halpin took fifth place overall in New York in the Team Competition for Travel and Tourism, qualifying for the DECA International Career Conference & Competition in April!

In all, 11 Babylon High School students won awards for top ten finishes in New York State. The remaining winners are: Stephanie Ochs, Marcella Repetto, Rebecca Rubin, Jessica Weber, Patrick Johnsen, Harry Newman, Emily Loudon, and Laura Greenman.

In addition, Babylon High School was one of only 10 schools to receive a Recognition Award for its fundraising on behalf of the Marty Lyons Foundation. The Foundation fulfills the special wishes of children who have been diagnosed as having a terminal or life threatening illness.

DECA Club advisors are Mrs. Reilly and Mr. Aykroyd.
