Recognition goes to Lindenhurst High School's National Merit Scholarship winner Danielle Piskorz. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students enter the program by taking the PSAT's. (Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test) and meeting certain requirements. Winners are selected based on abilities, skills and accomplishments.

Seniors at Deer Park High School recently attended a special presentation designed to help prepare them for future success in the world after high school. "Making College and Career Count shared insights on how to make the most of education and how to get the job done when heading off to college by creating plans of action to achieve goals. Speaker Jean Fedora motivated, entertained and challenged the students on many topics, including how to interview and how to succeed in your first job out of high school. The program and accompanying book have been featured and CBS, MSNBC and CNN, as well as in Newsweek, the New York Times and USA Today.
