Bower students in Lindenhurst kick off this years PARP reading program

Students at Lindenhurst's E.W. Bower Elementary began this year's PARP program with a bang. Sponsored by the Arts in Education, students enjoyed a special program with Terry Pakkett that included a magic show and special word games.

For the third to fifth graders, Mr. Pakkett read from popular books such as Matilda and Harry Potter. Student volunteers played human scrabble to see how many words they can make with the letters S-T-O-P.

This year's theme, the Magic of Reading was emphasized throughout the program.

Shown in the photo, left to right, third grader Emily Steinberg, fifth grader Thomas Serafino, third grader Even Hicks and fifth grader Angelica Torres play human Scrabble.
