Albany Avenue Elementary School Multicultural and Character Education Club

Shown in the photo are third grade Multi Cultural and Character Education Club members with Principal Frank Grotschel, advisors Linda Domanico and Melissa Day and Lindenhurst Village Trustees Jodi Caravella and MaryAnn Weckerle.
Lindenhurst's Albany Avenue Multi Cultural and Character Education Club is going along with the superintendent's focus on character education and multiculturalism. The third grade club has been busy creating school-wide activities that focus on monthly themes. This month's theme was "Kindness and Caring." The club celebrated "Kindness Week" February 12 to 16.

Other themes include: community citizenship, bullying awareness, environmental citizenship, responsibility, and peer pressure. Some of the highlights are planting flowers for the community and "Cultural" caterpillar, where caterpillars are stretched out around the school.

"These children are a great group that I am very proud of," said second grade teacher Melissa Day.
