West Gates elementary school ESL students became stars around the holidays

English as a Second Language (ESL) students at West Gates Avenue Elementary School in Lindenhurst, became school stars prior to the holiday season, as they presented an entertaining play titled The Enormous Turnip to fellow classmates and parents. Led by teacher Joanna Tofano, the six students practiced for over a month to perfect their lines for the play. The second grade students demonstrated their use of the English language, even though some students are new to the ESL program.

The following students worked hard to putt together The Enormous Turnip: Sara Hussain, Adrian Sakowski, Asli Gunacar, Ever Canales, Deniz Oztemiz, and Andrea Cabrera.
