Fifth grade South Bay Elementary School students fire contest essay winners

Fifth grade students at South Bay Elementary School in West Babylon recently participated in an essay contest sponsored by the West Babylon Fire Department. As part of Fire Prevention Week, students submitted essays that stressed the importance of fire prevention in the home. Topics included the importance of having an exit plan and a meeting place, and how often to practice family drills. Matthew Grabowski, Reed Salanitri, and Kelsey Hammel will each be receiving a plaque for their winning work.
