Daniel Street School's students receive CPR and AED training

Lindenhurst's Daniel Street Elementary School's Linda Adrian had CPR and AED training to help a third grade student by administering the Heimlich maneuver during lunch on December 20, 2006.

Third grader, Catherine Bautista came up to Adrian with tears. She grabbed her throat. "Are you choking?" exclaimed Adrian. The student shook her head yes. Adrian immediately administered the Heimlich maneuver and called to get the school nurse. "After the third try, the food was dislodged and Catherine began to cry." said Adrian. "Although I was a little fearful at the time, the proper training I received allowed me to save her life."

Shown in the photo, left to right, are Linda Adrian, Catherine Bautista and Superintendent Neil Lederer.
