WI grad helps make boy's dream come true

Zachery Olsen, a 14-yearold born with a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on his nerves had a dream. He wanted to become a pilot. Now, with the help of a local Air Force Captain and his squadrom that dream has become a reality.

Captain Sean Howlett, a 311th AS pilot and event organizer put a day together for Zachery, giving him a tour at Peterson Air Force Base and learning what kind of things pilots have to take into account when planning a mission.

"We really wanted to make this a great day for Zachery," said Capt. Howlett of West Islip. "We wanted this to be a day he would remember for the rest of his life." Captain Howlett, an instructor pilot and a member of the 311th AS at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado, is currently on his second deployment to the Middle East.

Captain Howlett was the subject of an Air Force Times article involving the Make-AWish Foundation just prior to his deployment. He graduated from West Islip High School in 1998, is scheduled for reassignment to Germany, along with his wife, the former Theresa Holdener of Stony Brook and their two children, upon his return from the Middle East. He is the son of Tricia and Chuck Howlett of West Islip. He is shown in photo above.
