Lindenhurst High School produces The Recruit

Lindenhurst High School has its own apprentice…"The Recruit." Modeled after the popular television show The Apprentice, The Recruit is a Lindenhurst High School business club, now in its fourth season.

The Recruit is not all fun and games, however. The program is teaching Lindy students valuable lessons such as teamwork, creative thinking and task management.

The school kicked-off this year's program where students work together to accomplish specific tasks. Following the same format as the television show, the end of each mission means doom for the losing team: they must enter the boardroom and a member is let go.

One task was to convert the faculty lounge into a '50s style restaurant. Students are broken down into three teams of eight. They decorated the walls with record wall paper, had record albums hanging from the ceiling, wore "Fonzie" tee shirts and a '50s style dress. They prepared their own '50s style menu, including "Fonzerlla Sticks" and authentic egg creams.

In addition, The Recruits will feature a Las Vegas and Hawaiian themed style restaurant in the faculty lounge. "The students truly enjoy all the

various tasks they've been given," said club advisor Nick Lombardo. "Another task they did included selling advertisements for the Yearbook."
