WI athletic director Hall of Fame inductee

J. Wayne Shierant, the West Islip Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Health & Recreation, will be inducted into the a Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, it has been announced. A banquet will be held March 24 at Lazarski's Banquet Hall at 2 p.m.

Shierant, a football coach at West Islip High School where he holds a 15-year record of 112-26-3 with 14 playoff appearances in 15 years, was inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. He was a four-year starter at Sterling College, following a very successful career at Mount Carmel Area High School in Pennsylvania.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Shierant says he is "very honored to be remembered and recognized."
