GSH receives ACR Accreditation

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation. Evaluations are conducted by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the hospital with a comprehensive report.

At Good Samaritan, ultrasound imaging is commonly used to obtain vital diagnostic information about abdominal organs. It is also frequently used prenatally, to gather information about the developing fetus, and in the Mammography and Breast Diagnostic Center, to differentiate between a solid mass and a fluid-filled cyst or to guide the collection of cells during a non-surgical needle biopsy.

Good Samaritan offers state-of-theart radiology services including digital mammography and PET/CT scanning. For more information on ultrasound or other radiology services at Good Samaritan, please call 631-376-4444.
