West Islip resident celebrates 100th birthday
On March 1 2007, West Islip's Our Lady of Consolation's resident, Elizabeth Koebel, celebrated her 100th birthday. Koebel was born in New York City and later moved to the Bronx and finally settled on Long Island, in West Islip. She was married to Charles Koebel, now deceased, and has one daughter, Jeanne Dennerlein. Koebel is the proud grandmother of four and a great-grandmother of three. Koebel worked as a receptionist at Earle & Calhoun Real Estate for 16 years and is currently a resident of Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center.
