Helping Hands to hold holiday gift drive

Helping Hands in West Islip Inc. will be holding its spring holiday gift drive, Wednesday, March 21, 3 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post 1738, Union Boulevard, West Islip. This year the group would like to provide 3,000 needy children with a holiday basket or spring gift.

You can make a theme basket for a baby or with a specific character in mind. Children are especially happy when you fill a gently used lunch box, backpack or pocketbook with goodies. You may fill plastic bags or decorated lunch bags with treats. Every gift should be sent in clean, decorated and ready for distribution.

The Helping Hands operates on no funds. Donations of candy and plastic gags in all sizes, including garbage bags for distribution, are needed. Those of you who are coming down to help [at the hall, please bring your own scissors, tape, ribbon and a bag of candy if possible.
