Half Hollow Hills students celebrate Black History Month

Half Hollow Hills High School West members of the African-American Student Organization (AASO) recently celebrated Black History month with an educational presentation that prompted others to delve into the many facets of black history and culture. The presentation encompassed a multitude of historical persons, facts, music, and power-point visuals, and included a play in which a student falls asleep during an as- signment to write a biographical essay on a famous Black American. Throughout the course of the dream, the student finds himself placed in many important social events in black history, and encounters various wellknown and influential people of the time, such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. The student ultimately takes pride in his black heritage and of the social obstacles that African-Americans have overcome.
