John Feeney, 93, resident of Bay Shore

Longtime Bay Shore resident John J. Feeney died February 10, 2007. He was 93 and lived in the area for more than 50 years.

Born in the Bronx, he later served in the 82nd Army Airborne during World War II. For almost 38 years he worked for New York City's Herald Tribune Newspaper as a print setter until it ceased production. He also worked maintenance for New York State, according to his daughter, Mary Ann.

Mr. Feeney loved to dance and was a Sayville Stepper, a senior group who performed at senior homes and other venues. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus as an honorary lifetime member and at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, both in Bay Shore.

He leaves behind his children: John and his wife Carole, Peter and his wife Kathleen, Thomas and Mary Ann; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sister, Helen; his dear friend, Marge; as well as other loved ones and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Teresa.

Mr. Feeney reposed at the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, West Islip, on February 11 and 12, 2007. A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick's R.C. Church, Bay Shore, on February 13, 2007 followed by interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
