Copiague man killed in auto crash in Bay Shore

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash which claimed the life of a Copiague man Wednesday, Feb. 14. At approximately 10:41 a.m., Ronald Nanista, 56, of 125B Bayside Ave., Copiague, was driving westbound on the Sunrise Highway Service Road when he apparently lost control of the van he was driving in, hitting the retaining wall and then a tree. Nanista was extricated from his vehicle by Islip Exchange Rescue, and then transported to Southside Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nanista was driving a 2004 Ford Econoline van that is owned by ARCCO Cooling and Heating, Inc. of Wantagh.

The investigation is continuing and anyone who has information about the crash is asked to call the Third Squad at (631) 854-8352.
