West Islip Board of Education to hold meeting on budget

The West Islip Board of Education will begin discussing the 2007-2008 school budget on Thursday, March 1, 7:30 p.m. in the Beach Street Middle School Library. A second budget work session will be held the following Thursday, March 8, same time and place.

A public input session will be held on Thursday, March 15, 7 p.m. in the Beach Street school auditorium prior to the regularly-scheduled Board meeting, which will immediately follow.

Two more budget work sessions will be held on March 22, 7:30 p.m. and March 27 at approximately 8:30 p.m., immediately following the Board meeting, which will be in the Beach Street school library.

The proposed school budget is scheduled for adoption by the Board of Education on April 12, 8 p.m. in the Westbrook Elementary School, during the regularly-scheduled board meeting. Nominating petitions for Board Trustee seats are due into the district office at 100 Sherman Ave., by 5 p.m. on April 16. On April 30, the budget will be made available to residents. A Meet the Candidates Night will be held in the Beach Street school auditorium at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1. The Budget Public Hearing, along with voter registration, will be held on May 8, 7:30 p.m. in the Beach Street school auditorium. The budget vote will be in West Islip High School on Tuesday, May 15, between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
