Joseph Maniaci: 96, “The Legend Barber”
Mr. Maniaci died January 22, 2007 at the age of 96. For more than 30 years he lived on Myrtle Avenue in West Islip and was a longtime Knights of Columbus member in Queens and later in West Islip. Mr. Maniaci was a Holy Name member and a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Babylon. Mr. Maniaci leaves behind his children: Alphonso and Paula, Maria and Bernie Papocchia and John and Patricia; his brother, Martin; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; as well as other loved ones and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Lena.
He reposed at the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home on January 23, 2007. A Celebration of Liturgy of Christian Burial was held January 24, 2007 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Babylon followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery.
