Live Poets Society announces upcoming events The Live Poets Society has a number of events scheduled for the near future. Peer workshops will be held at the Islip Public Library, Sundays, 2 p.m. on March 4, April 1 and May 6. Bring 10 copies of an original poem for discussion and review. The Live Poets Society is announcing its 10th annual poetry contest in honor of April as National poetry month. The guidelines are submitting one to three poems on any subject or style. There is a readers fee of $5. The poems should be typed on a separate sheet with a 40 line maximum. The name, address, phone number and title of the poem should be on a separate sheet. the deadline date is April 16. Prizes and awards will be presented at The Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Ave., Islip, April 25, 7:30 p.m. in the community room.
On Tuesday, April 17, Dan Moran, Suffolk County poet laureate,. will be featured at the Brentwood Library, Second Avenue and Fourth Street, Brentwood, Tuesday, April 17, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
