Heard It On The Grapevine WE LOVE HER BEACH PHOTOGRAPHS, and Shirley Wendel, master of photography and photographic craftsman, is known to many Babylonians who have her treasured photos framed in a prominent place in their home. Shirley has moved to Southampton to be near her son Peter, and her work is now on display until February 28th at the Rogers Memorial Library at 91 Coopers Farm Road in Southampton. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. It's the perfect answer on how to cope with the cold weather - a drive out east, lunch and then a visit to the library to see Shirley's highly acclaimed work. SAILORS GET TOGETHER. The Ed Weinsteins and their son Dr. Victor Weinstein and his family of Charleston, South Carolina had a fine time at a reunion of Cat Boat sailors held in Newport, Rhode Island recently. WAS SORRY TO LEARN of Cadman Frederick's ("Freddie's") death last week. Many Babylonians have fond memories of "Freddie" growing up here in Babylon. He lived in Sayville with his wife and family for many years, and services were held there last week. Our sincere sympathy to his lovely family. REMEMBER BILL CANARY? Bill was a trustee in the Village and also was a member of the Babylon Town Board way back in the late '70s and early '80s. Just finished reading Dorothy Bush's new book about her father, My Father, My President and Bill is mentioned several times for his work in the presidential campaign of '88 and later as the Bush White House and "a close friend of the Bush family." Bill is now living in Montgomery, Alabama with his wife and children where he's the president and chief executive officer of the Business Council of Alabama. THE PINK FLAG IS FLYING at Donna andLindsay Henry' s Willow Street home. When their first daughter Sarah Elizabeth was born, they raised the flag to let their neighbors know the good news. Now the flag announces the arrival of their new daughter, Theresa Ann Henry, who was born on February 6 at Good Samaritan Hospital, weighing in at seven pounds, five and one half ounces. Our best wishes and congratulations to Donna and Lindsay.
EVERYONE HAD A BALL AT THE ANNUAL ANNIVERSARY DINNER DANCE at the Long Island Yacht Club on Saturday night when the club celebrated the 49th anniversary of its opening. But Jeanne and John Ramsey, who were slated to cut the cake weren't able to make the party, as Jeanne is recovering from a hospital stay. Congratulations to the Club and get well wishes to Jeanne. Jeanne and John are the oldest members of the club.
