West Babylon legacy of literacy

The literacy legacy continues at West Babylon Forest Avenue Elementary School was recently visited by members of the Babylon Rotary Club and Clifford the Big Red Dog to celebrate literacy. The Babylon Rotary presented each child a $5 certificate which entitled them to purchase a book from their on-going Scholastic book fair. Members ate breakfast with and read to the students, in addition, to purchasing books off of each teachers wish list for their classroom. Scholastic Books will be matching a percentage of what the Rotary donated, and will purchase books in that amount for the Forest Avenue library.

Shown in the photo is Clifford the Big Red Dog, Babylon Rotary Club President Geoff Matherson, Forest Avenue Principal Christine Tona and Babylon Rotary members Lynn Matarazzo and Frank Seibert.
