Daniel Street Elementary holds toy drive

Lindenhurst's Daniel Street Toy Campaign was a huge success this year. A letter was sent out to all children asking each grade to bring in an age and gender appropriate toy, clothes, gift cards or restaurant certificates. Children in the Student Council, consisting of two students from each class in grades three to five, helped sort, wrap and package the gifts.

From the donations, nine Daniel Street families were chosen to receive an extra package this holiday season. All children who receive free and reduced lunch were entered into a special drawing. The Parent-Teacher Association delivered the packages to the families.

The following parents and teachers helped make the toy campaign a success; Denise Columbo, Donna Costello, Diana Gillespie, Alissa Gilman, Ellen Grimes, Amy Phillips and Keri Zadik.

Shown in the photo, The Daniel Street Student Council helped sort, wrap and put together holiday packages to nine Daniel Street families.
