Babylon Class of 2009 gives to VA Hospital

During the last few weeks, residents and visitors to Babylon Village noticed canisters and boxes for donations of items and funds for the Veterans' Care Basket Drive, sponsored by the Babylon High School Sophomore Class (Class of 2009). Science Director Richard Vultaggio reports that monetary contribu- tions totaled $250 and donated items produced more than 60 gift bags created by the students for the U.S. veterans.

The gifts included necessities such as bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste and shaving creams, as well as leisure items like books, puzzles, and playing cards. Sophomore Class cabinet members and advisors went to the Nursing Home Building at the VA Hospital in Northport to deliver the gifts while personally wishing many of the patients a happy new year and thanking them for their service to the country.

"The sophomores would like to thank all those who contributed to this often-overlooked, but very worthy cause," says Vultaggio.
