Local residents helps bring home Dowling's National Soccer Championship

Michael Bujan, a resident of West Babylon, Robert Miller, a resident of Deer Park, and Michael Nicolini, a resident of West Babylon are proud to be part of a championship winning team and to play a vital role in one of the greatest moments in the history of Dowling College athletics. Dowling College's men's soccer team recently made history when they captured the NCAA Division II National Championship, the first national title in any sport in the 51-year history of the college. The Golden Lions (22-0-2) had to withstand a furious rally from defending champion, No. 2-ranked Fort Lewis (21-2-1) down the stretch but held on to win 1-0.

Bujan netted seven goals and dished off two assists this season. Michael plays the forward position and is a freshman majoring in special education. Michael would like to be a teacher and a pro soccer player one day. He enjoys playing soccer and lists his parents as his role models.

Miller played on a renowned defensive corps, which shut down opponents throughout the undefeated season. He is a sophomore majoring in sports management and plans to be a business owner after graduation. He lists his father as his role model and enjoys being with friends and going to the beach.

Robert Miller
Nicolini had 10 appearances this season at the midfield position and is a freshman majoring in Education. He would like to be a professional athlete and a head coach some day. He lists his mother and father as his role models and enjoys soccer.
