Mix it up day celebrated at Udall Rd. MS in West Islip

The Udall Road Middle School in West Islip participated in National Mix It Up Day on November 14, a time during which students accept the challenge of bypassing social boundaries they perceive in school cafeterias, in order to meet new people and make additional friends. Principal Bernadette Burns reports that as the children entered the Udall lunchroom, each was given a token that they matched with a larger representation on each table. "That ensured a safe and orderly seating method, and of course, allowed no more than the allotted seating at each table," explains Burns. Following lunch, the students participated in a game of "getting to know you bingo."
