Good Samaritan's first baby of the New Year

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center's first baby of 2007 was born at 8:36 a.m., January 1. Parents, Colleen and Edward Unverzagt of Islip welcomed their first child, son Blake Thomas, weighing in at seven pounds, 13 ounces. The Medical Center presented the family with a gift bag full of items for baby Blake. Babies R' Us also presented the family with a gift basket. Delivering physician was John Franchina, DO.

Each year more than 3,000 babies are delivered at Good Samaritan. In addition to maternity services, the Medical Center's Pediatric Department offers a comprehensive continuum of care that ensures that newborns through adolescents receive expert care close to home. The hospital also offers pediatric emergency services, a Child Life program and neonatal services. For more information on services at Good Samaritan call 631-376-4444.
