Heard It On The Grapevine HE'S A TOP POLITICAL LEADER AND A TOP HOST, Yes, Rich Schaffer, former Suffolk County Legislator and former Babylon Town Supervisor and now the Suffolk County Democratic Chairman really knows how to entertain. We were among the lucky guests at his beautiful new Village Line Road home (decorated by the very best, "Tricia" Snover) last week. It looks fabulous. Others on the guest list were Tricia and Gerry Snover of Snover Real Estate; their son Kevin, a local attorney; Ann and Larry Schwarz- he's with Cablevision, and she's a law clerk with Federal Judge Leonard Wexler; and local businessman Bernard Brophy. We had a delicious dinner and an evening of very interesting conversation. Thank you Rich for a very lovely evening. ONE OF THE TOP WOMEN IN NEW YORK. According to the N.Y. Daily News, Mary Schapiro. Mary is featured in an article along with such gals as Katie Couric, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and several other women who have had great success. She's the chairwoman and chief executive officer of NASD, a private sector Wall Street watch dog. She's the daughter of former Babylonians, Sue and Bob Schapiro and is a Babylon High School graduate. These Babylon High School girls have really made their mark in life - we keep hearing about their accomplishments. REMEMBER WHEN? Some gossip from "The Buzz" a paper started in 1937 by a small group of Babylon Village youngsters. Thought our readers might be interested in items of local gossip way back then. So here goes..."Stanley Dodd gave a party in honor of James H. Dimmick Saturday at his home on Deer Park Avenue. The guests who attended the party were: James Dimmick, Louise Wandel, Stanley Dodd, Joan Baxter, Elwen Brown, Merritt McCully, James Robbins, Ann Vidal, Fred Williams, Bette Conner and M.E. VanNostrand. They had boat races and turtle races and played many other games. Refreshments were served. The guests began to leave at about 6:30. Everyone had a good time. Mrs. Dodd was very nice to everyone. Jimmy Dimmick will be moving to the Bronx in about three weeks."
