Babylon School officials invite community to budget meetings Seeking input from the community on its upcoming budget proposal, the Babylon Board of Education and administrators are inviting residents to attend meetings on formulating a draft. Meetings begin on Monday, February 12th with the Finance Committee at 6:30 p.m. at the Babylon Junior/Senior High School, 50 Railroad Avenue. On Monday, February 26th, the first draft, involving General Support, Transportation and Undistributed monies, will be discussed at 7 p.m. at the same location. This will be followed by a meeting with the Finance Committee on Monday, March 5th, at 5:30 p.m. The second budget draft, involving Instructional expenses, will be presented at the regularly-scheduled Board of Education meeting in the Junior-Senior High School on Monday, March 12th, 8:15 p.m.. For the convenience of those whose schedules do not permit them to attend evening meetings, a full budget presentation will be presented to the community on Saturday, March 17th at 9 a.m. in the Junior- Senior High School. A second full budget presentation will take place on Monday, March 26th at 7 p.m. The Board of Education plans to adopt a budget at its April 16th meeting in the Junior-Senior High School Library at 8:15 p.m. A public hearing will be held on the proposed budget on Monday, May 7th at 8:15 p.m. The last day for voter registration is May 10th between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Voting on the proposed budget and Board of Education Trustees will be held on Super Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in the Babylon Memorial Grade School from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
