Village Board approves new stop sign for The Crescent
by Carolyn James

A petition presented to the Babylon Village Board from residents of The Crescent has resulted in the board's decision to install a stop sign on that street at the intersection of Fire Island Avenue. The stop sign was approved at the board's regular monthly meeting January 9, and the decision was well received by residents.

"There were a number of citizens who were concerned with the amount and speed of traffic at that intersection," said Jack Corcoran of 110 The Crescent. "A number of families there have young children and we have not been able to use the front of the homes."

The petition was signed by 15 residents.

"The board listened, did its due diligence and we are happy with the results," said Corcoran.

"It should be installed by the end of the week," Mayor Ralph Scordino told Corcoran when he asked how quickly the sign could be put up.
