Memorial for longtime Babylon resident, Doris Thompson, to be held January 27 Longtime Babylon resident Doris Adele Thompson died peacefully December 24, 2006 in Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. The Babylon resident, who lived on Pershing Avenue for 59 years, was 91 years old. Born in Queens, she later graduated from Brooklyn Law School and Adelphi University and went on to be an attorney and judge. She will be best remembered by her family, however, as a "caring wife, mother and friend." According to her family she donated much of her time to the Girl Scouts of America and loved to swim and go boating. She was also active in her Delta Gamma group and was a a strong woman and humanitarian. "She lived a rich and peaceful life until the end and for that we are thankful," said her daughter Mary Bone, who said it was thanks to her home health aide Celithia Williams. Mrs. Thompson leaves behind her children: Edward Jr., Neil, Paul and Mary; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as other loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward. As per her wishes, Mrs. Thompson's body was donated to Stony Brook University Medical School. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Main Street & Podunk Lane in West Hampton Beach with a reception following in Parish Hall.
