Police arrest two men for robbery at LIRR station

Suffolk County Police today arrested two Wheatley Heights men for the gunpoint robbery of a motorist in West Babylon. The two men may also have robbed another unknown person at the LIRR train station in Babylon.

Errol M. Ricketts, 19, of 76 Landscape Drive, Wheatley Heights and Maurice J. Thomas, 19, of 45 Brown Blvd., also in Wheatley Heights, were driving around the area of Babylon and West Babylon in a green Jeep when they decided to rob someone. At about 5 a.m. Ricketts and Thomas pulled alongside a vehicle occupied by a 51-yearold man who was pulling out of a driveway on Raynor Street in West Babylon. Threatening him with a BB gun that appeared to be a handgun, they ordered the victim to give them his cash and cell phone. When he returned home the victim gave a detailed description of the robbery to 911 operators who broadcast the vehicle and suspect descriptions throughout the police district.

Prior to this incident, Ricketts and Thomas robbed someone they described as an "older white man with a black coat" of money as he walked through the train station parking lot. This victim has not contacted Suffolk County Police.

Ricketts and Thomas were apprehended by Sgt. John Pizurro and Police Officer Charles Erdmann. When they were arrested, the stolen items were still in their possession. They are both charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree and were arraigned at First District Court. The investigation is ongoing.

First Squad detectives are trying to locate the victim of the robbery at the train station parking lot, and believe that there may be other victims. They urge any additional victims to contact the First Squad at (631) 854-8152.
