West Islip students and staff help local needy family
      West Islip students and staff are joining forces to help a local family in need, working through the Lionheart Fund. According to Lionheart coordinator and Principal John Mullins, the family has lost the mother and the father is hospitalized.

North Babylon High School honored with school distinction award
      The North Babylon athletic teams received a big state honor. NYSPHSAA handed out the Scholar Athlete Team Award to North Babylon High School because 100 percent of its varsity teams qualified to be listed on the Association's Academic Honor Roll as a School of Distinction.

      The Babylon PTA put on a fall festival for kindergarten, first and second graders and their families at the Babylon Elementary School. There were games and goodies for all. Deer Park students to attend college humanities program
      Deer Park High School sophomores Christopher Wankel, Josephine Williams, Melissa Bares, Dennis Ryan and Eric Wuu were selected to participate in Civic Performance, a humanities program that will be held November 15 to 18 at Stony Brook University.
