Dorothy Pezzoli, R.N.: N. Babylon resident & volunteer

Dorothy A. Pezzoli, New York State Nurse of the Year in 1999, and a longtime North Babylon resident, died November 18, 2006. She was 79 years old.

In 1953 Mrs. Pezzoli moved from Queens Village to Frankie Lane in North Babylon where she lived for 53 years. A clinical nurse specialist, she worked at the Northport VA Hospital for 27 years until her retirement.

After retiring, she gave much of her time as a hospice volunteer and a court-appointed mediator for Suffolk County.

Mrs. Pezzoli leaves behind her husband, Richard; her children: Caren, Kathy, Jayne, Richard, Keith and Maureen; her nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as other loved ones and friends.

She reposed at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 West Main Street, Babylon Village on November 21, 2006. A Religious service was held at the funeral home that same evening. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Babylon Village on November 22, 2006.
