Johnson honors longtime career of local LIRR Director

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently joined with Senator Caesar Trunzo to present Janet Lewis of Babylon Village with a special State Senate Resolution in recognition of her retirement from the LIRR. Ms. Lewis served as Director of the Government and Community Affairs Office of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority/ Long Island Rail Road for the past 11 years and overall, had a nearly 30-year career with the LIRR.

During her career, Lewis served in many different positions within the LIRR. She started in Public Affairs in 1977, was promoted to Executive Assistant to the President in 1990, and then became the Director of the Government and Community Affairs Office in 1995, where she ably assisted elected officials from all levels of the government with LIRR concerns and projects.

"I am very pleased to honor Lewis for her dedication and loyalty shown to the LIRR over the past 30 years," said Senator Johnson. "I wish her the very best in all her future endeavors and thank her for all her hard work which unquestionably helped to make the LIRR a more efficient and responsive agency."
