Joseph Mezzacapo: West Islip Radiologist & Vietnam Veteran

Professional radiologist and 28-year West Islip resident Joseph W. Mezzacapo died December 4, 2006. He was 55-years-old and was a decorated veteran who proudly served in the Army during the war in Vietnam.

Born in Jamaica, Queens, he later lived in North Babylon before moving to West Islip in 1978.

After his retirement from the V.A. Hospital in Northport, he continued to work as a Computerized Axial Tomography, or CAT Scan, radiologist in Bay Shore. According to his wife, he was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved to spend time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Jean Ann; his children: Michael and his wife Genell of Virginia and Jessica Hoffman and her husband Walter of West Islip; his grandchildren: Alexandra, Adrianna, Hailee and Isabella; his siblings: Ollie "Sis" Doncaster and Jerry; his brother and sister in laws: Rick and Sue and Nancy and Mark; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Paisolli; as well as other loved ones and friends.

Mr. Mezzacapo reposed at the Claude R. Boyd- Spencer Funeral Home, Babylon Village, on December 7, 2006. A Funeral Service was held December 8 at St. Joseph's Church followed by private burial.
