Town of Babylon wants your Christmas tree

The Town of Babylon announced the "Christmas Tree" Dune Preservation Program. This program was created to preserve our "9/11 Hometown Memorial." The Town is asking all residents to bring their Christmas trees (with all ornaments removed) to the Overlook Beach Parking lot on January 6, 2007 between 9:00am-12:00 noon.

Volunteers, under the guidance of the TOB Environmental Department, will place the Christmas trees around the 9/11 Hometown Memorial to create a protective dune to preserve the site naturally. "It is imperative that the residents of the Town of Babylon participate in this program," said Deputy Supervisor Ellen McVeety. We have created a beautiful memorial to honor those who died on 9/11 and now our entire Town can assist with helping us to preserve this memorial site."

If residents have any questions they can contact Deputy Supervisor Ellen McVeety's office at 631 957-3081
