Granelle and Cotrone win Commissioners' seats in DP Fire District; other races held

Richard Vella left, newly elected West Babylon Fire Commissioner, and Peter Sayevich, newly elected Copiague Fire District Commissioner.
In the only contested race for Fire Commissioners in the Town of Babylon, Deer Park residents elected Peter Granelle to another five-year term on the board, and Paul Cotrone to the one-year unexpired term. The vote was December 12.

Granelle has been on the board for 15 years and is an Inspector for the New York City Housing Authority. He ran on his record, he said, and defeated Kenneth Gagliano, 265 to 124.

Cotrone defeated Anthony Trombetta, 336, to 62. Cotrone is a 27-year member of the department and a manger with Keyspan. He and his wife Tammy have two children and have lived in Deer Park for 44 years.

In other fire news, West Babylon Fire District residents elected Richared Vella to the Board of Fire Commissioners with 172 votes. He ran unipposed.

Also running unopposed in the West Islip Fire Department was Kenneth O'Brien who garnered 77 votes and in the Copiague Fire Department, Peter Sayevich, a former fire chief won a five-year term, replacing his brother, Robert, who did not seek reelection.
