The West Islip High School Robotics Team participated in the West Islip Chamber of Commerce Expo held at LaGrange on Oct. 23, during which Chamber President and Vice President Lisa Guariglia and Joe DiPalma, respectively, presented a check to the robotechs for $1,500.

Chamber officials also presented a check for $1,500 to the Lionheart Fund. Both this donation and the one made to Robotics are from proceeds of the Chamber's annual Car Show held in September.

Lionheart was formed by school district administrators immediately after the 9/11 terrorists attack on the Twin Towers, which assisted affected local families with immediate financial concerns. Twenty-four children attending West Islip School District lost a parent that day. Since then, Lionheart has been assisting neighbors in crisis. Fund chairperson is John Mullins, principal of Captree Elementary School.
