Babylon junior baseball on hitting streak

The Babylon 10-year-old Fall baseball team slugged their way to an incredible 49 runs, and had only two runs against them in three games. The games were held at the North Babylon Phelps Lane fields.

Babylon started the weekend with a close 3-1 game September 28th against Half Hollow Hills. The game was a battle from both sides. Spencer Meyerson put Babylon on the board hitting 2 for 2 and had all 3 RBI's. Ryan Mathews starting pitcher faced eight batters in two innings with four strikeouts.

Relieving pitcher Nicholas Crawford faced nine batters in two innings with five strikeouts and gave up one run. Spencer Meyerson closed the game with four strikeouts facing seven batters in two innings.

The following day Babylon defeated West Islip 29- 0 in five innings. With team effort, all of Babylon's players had RBI's in the book. Ryan Mathews went 3 for 4, crushing the ball; with two doubles and seven RBI's and Kevin Blau with two line drive doubles went 2 for 2, with four RBI's.

With a no hitter across the board, pitchers Mike Carlson and Jack Faccibene each pitched two innings facing seven batters and both had six strikeouts. Dillon Kelly closed the game striking out all three batters in their last licks attempt.

With several days rest, Babylon faced Bayshore October 6th, with a 17-1 win. Babylon's starting pitcher Christopher Dewey and relieving pitcher Jack Conlon both pitched two innings. Dewey faced eight batters, with three strikeouts and Conlon faced 10 batters with two strikeouts. Closing pitcher Matthew Stark came in for the last inning facing five batters, giving up one run and had two strikeouts.

Babylon sluggers Nick Crawford went 2 for 4 with four RBI's and the first Homerun blast of the night and slugger Zachary Carmody went 2 for 4 with a walk, an RBI line drive triple and three-run Homerun bomb.

On October 12th, Babylon faced the tough Deer Park team and held onto their 7-6 lead till the very end. Babylon put three runs on the board early in the first inning. Jack Faccibene went 2 for 3, with three RBI's and two defensive putouts. Nick Crawford winning pitcher went four innings, gave up one run and had seven strikeouts. Crawford also went 2 for 3, with two RBI's. The game save went to Michael Carlson with a center field catch and a throw to the plate forcing the tagging up runner back to third and preventing the tying run.

Babylon's game seven was played on October 20th, and faced another West Islip team. Babylon starting and winning pitcher Zachary Carmody pitched a three inning no hitter, throwing 38 pitches, striking out nine batters in a row. Babylon put runs on the board early and continued scoring each inning. Liam Young hit 3 for 3 with 3 batters in a row. Babylon put runs on the board early and continued scoring each inning.
